Birchfield Penuel & Associates redesigned the 8th floor Computational Research Space at UAB's Boshell Diabetes Research and Education Building. Located in the heart of downtown Birmingham, the 8 story low-rise building was originally constructed in 1972 and the 8th floor had not been significantly renovated since. BPA worked side-by-side with UAB to renew an underutilized area and update the configuration to meet their growing needs. In spite of budget constraints, the design team was able to bring the space up to meet standard building codes and integrate modern elements into the new administrative and research spaces.
