BPA was approached by Mercedes-Benz U.S. International, Inc. to design the first major renovation to its offices since the Vance, Alabama plant was built nearly 20 years ago. Utilizing a Workplace Transformation approach, the renovation is a strategic update of over 85,000 SF, and growing, of office space to implement a new vision for how their teams can work together to produce some of the best vehicles in the world. Collaboration and flexibility served as the guiding principles for the concept. Modular glass conference rooms and collaborative seating groups of every scale form the spine of each space, while dramatic brand imagery lines the walls. This new environment will foster creativity and teamwork at a whole new level. Demountable partitions and raised access flooring will allow the space to evolve at the pace of the staff’s innovation. Our design team was able to stand on the shoulders of the investment MBUSI made in its Team Members some 20 years ago by refurbishing over 600 high-quality workstations and addressing daylighting through use of enhancements to existing skylights. The result is a dynamic new work environment deserving of MBUSI’s talented Finance, Logistics, NAFTA Hub, I.T. and other departments.
