Birchfield Penuel Architects led the master planning efforts for Freedom Farm, a nonprofit campus centered on healing and education for the foster care community. The plan outlines a vision for long-term growth rooted in restorative justice, wellness, and deep community engagement.
Designed to support a wide range of experiences, the master plan includes key buildings such as an activity center, gathering spaces, a general store, and various outdoor and programmatic amenities. These include an equestrian barn, neighborhood housing, playgrounds, an event pavilion, a garden and garden house, and a network of walking and riding trails that connect the site and reinforce its relationship to the natural landscape.
Every element of the campus is designed to foster connection to nature, create a sense of belonging, and support a mission-driven environment for restoration, learning, and collective care.
